Montreal struggled against Pittsburgh trailing 2-0 for 50 minutes of the game only to have a late rush and win due to Pittsburgh's lack of 60 minute play. I like the simple situational and statistical trends on the Under 43 in this one. Tennessee will have to try to manipulate the clock with the run game and while Romo and the Cowboys offense can be explosive I like the first down battle type of game that eats the clock up.

Hello all! Hopefully the time invested will pay off today. I have been through today's card several times and ended on the following:

Kansas City @ Indianapolis
Initially I like the KC team and could wrap my head around the line vegas put out. Considering the value that the public puts on a 4-0 team really works hand in hand with the public perception of Indy as well, keeping the line in check. Looking into their defense and the opponents faced and the KC team can limit the big play but will give up the medium gain pass plays. One thing Peyton Manning can do however is confuse the secondary and linebackers and work defense into a bad reaction. Indy has the home field advantage and KC off of a bye could result in a sluggish start against one of the quickest teams in the league. I really think KC's special teams can give them good field position but offensively I doubt they can keep up over the 4 quarter long haul.

Atlanta @ Cleveland
Cleveland has been able to force the run game and work the field against a sub par Cincy team last week. The ability to run the ball and get first downs will keep the clock moving in this one. Atlanta has been a different team on the road and on grass as opposed to their home and turf record. I like the Browns and Falcons to play a low scoring game that will fall short of the posted total.

The Flyers are on zero rest and come into St. Louis tonight in the Blues first home game. The Blues played extremely well in preseason and will look to jump out tonight. They are much improved from an already good 2009 team. I like the Blues to get the home opener win tonight.

These two teams have played each other in their last two preseason games and open the season Thursday in Edmonton. The last meeting was a 1-0 Calgary victory and prior to that a 5-1 Calgary win. The Edmonton Oilers have gone 7-2 games playing under the total in the last 9 games at home. I think both will play their defense systems and play reasonable tight in the first regular season game. The fact that the odds makers put the total at 5.5, is a gift. This inflated line would be 5 in a month and seeing that difference is the advantage.
Under is 20-7-3 in the last 30 meetings in Edmonton.
Under is 36-17-4 in the last 57 meetings.
Under is 12-3-1 in Flames last 16 Thursday games.

10PM Chicago @ Colorado -125/+110 5.5

Colorado is focused and ready for the home opener and looks forward to a match up against the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Chicago on the other hand has lost 10 guys from their Cup team and have 2 new goaltenders. During the preseason the Hawks went 0-4 on the road and struggled to score and hold the lead. Colorado wasn't impressing anyone in the preseason either but I feel the home ice really plays a role in this game. I like the under here too but prefer to put my money on the home underdog. Perfect spot for a small return on initial investment.
Home team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings while the Blackhawks are 6-13-2 in the last 21 meetings in Colorado.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins Line: Even Total: 48

I think you always have to stiffen a defense up when lining up against the New England Patriots. Miami has a hard knock defensive pass rush and will throw multiple looks at Brady, especially in the first half. Allen will have a tough time but has the ability, with help from the secondary, to contain the deep threat. Miami leads the match up in time of possession and will likely have that as a major part of their game plan....to continue to dictate the game with TOP. Brady's high completion percentage will keep the clock ticking in those short throws and screens. Leaning toward the Under play tonight and going for 4-0 on Monday Night Football! Considering a small Under on the first half line of 24.5 as well.
