It always evens out somewhat.

Its amazing how you can be on a great run and end up blindsided by the laws of average. I had been hitting 66% for a soild month and in one day a 0-3 run plunges the bank account in half. Going into the Olympic break I will actually enjoy the time away from the NHL action somewhat. I look forward to riding the NHL into the playoffs and hopefully the time off will refresh my mindset for the final run of this season. I will be focusing the end of the year on favorites playing poor teams that have no chance of the playoffs. Careful planning and being able to identify these matchups can be a signifigant payroll increase in the final stretch of the NHL season.
Good Luck as always!

February 13th, 2010 NHL Picks

I have really realized that doing the writeups dont really favor anything. If I were trying to convince people of my picks then that would be a different story. Simply wanting to document the plays, just posting them is far better for me. I already am putting upwards of 3 hours a day in capping that days games that it makes it much easier to post plays. Have a great day everyone!!

February 9th, 2010 NHL Picks

Vancouver @ Tampa Bay
The Canucks and the Lighting are both coming off of an overtime and shootout win in their last games. The Canucks have been on a tear lately but have been allowing over 2 goals in the last 5 games on the penalty kill. Tampa Bay has been amazing at home this year and are 16-6-1-5 when playing in front of the home crowd. I like Tampa Bay especially if Nittymaki is in net for the Lighting. The Vancouver squad has had Tampas number in the last few matchups and will defianlty give the Lighting a good game but I feel like the letdown could be a possibility here and the home underdog has some value here. The Canucks are also in a tough spot playing their 5 straight on the road.
Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.

Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 home games.
Lightning are 4-1 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Lightning are 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win.
Lightning are 6-2 in their last 8 overall.
Home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

Nashville @ New York Islanders
The Isles have been good to me earlier in the season but have struggled as of late by losing the last 9. Goaltending has troubled the Isles since Dipeitro returned and Roloson has been their best bet as of late. The Nashville Predators have been struggling in their last 10 but are averaging 5.5 goals for when a road favorite this year. The Preds are also 11-5 with Rinne in net as a favorite. Check back for starting goaltenders as Roloson is 11-4 at home this year and may force a reduction in bet amount if in as the Isles starting goalie. Nashville is the play here in my opinion as the Isles show no sign of life as of late.
Predators are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. Eastern Conference.

Predators are 18-7-2 in their last 27 vs. Atlantic.
Predators are 9-4 in their last 13 vs. a team with a losing record.
Predators are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.
Islanders are 16-36 in their last 52 vs. a team with a winning record.

Islanders are 8-20 in their last 28 games playing on 2 days rest.
Islanders are 7-19 in their last 26 Tuesday games.
Islanders are 0-7 in their last 7 overall.
Islanders are 0-7 in their last 7 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.

Message & Superbowl Post

Looking to having a good, and quick NHL week before the Olympic break starts. Todays Superbowl match up is a good one. Chances are this will be a high scoring affair. If I had to lean one way or the other on the total I would like a small play on the under. The game is looking like a tighter defensive game than most are expecting and I think it should fall in the low 50's. Possibly a 27-24 type score. I like the Saints to hang in there and play Indy tight and keep the Saints around. I like the New Orlean Saints plus the 5 points.

February 2nd, 2010 NHL Pick

New Jersey @ Toronto
Toronto has mad some huge trade moves this week bringing in Dion Phaneuf and Sebastine Giguere. The Devils have been shaky lately and are looking to rebound from a loss against LA where they allowed a late goal by the Kings, and lost the lead and the game. Giguere will be the starting goalie the rest of the way for the Maple Leafs but has been bad this season and the Ducks lost 9 of the last 10 with Giguere in net. New Jersey's Broduer is an impressive 22-11-1 as a favorite this year and typically plays well in the first game of a road trip of three or more games. The Leafs worked on practice with a total of 7 new players on Monday and will likely have the early skate to go over anything before game time Tuesday. I cant expect much gelling from the new Leaf team yet but look for New Jersey to put forth a good road game and live up to the favorite status in this match-up.
Devils are 40-12 in their last 52 vs. a team with a losing record.

Devils are 5-2 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400.
Devils are 45-20 in their last 65 games playing on 1 days rest.
Devils are 36-16 in their last 52 vs. Eastern Conference.
Devils are 35-16 in their last 51 vs. Northeast.
Devils are 35-16 in their last 51 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game.
Road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
Maple Leafs are 10-27 in their last 37 games playing on 2 days rest.

Maple Leafs are 7-19 in their last 26 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game.
Maple Leafs are 7-19 in their last 26 vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
Maple Leafs are 8-24 in their last 32 Tuesday games.
Maple Leafs are 1-4 in their last 5 home games.
Maple Leafs are 1-6 in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600.
Maple Leafs are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference.
